CERT Training

The Humble Area CERT will host CERT training at the Harris County Fire and Sheriff Training Academy, 2316 Atascocita Road, Humble, Texas 77396. Training will be held each Monday,  from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., beginning March 25, 2024 and ending May 13, 2024. United Way - Clear Lake will host a CERT class at the United Way Center, 1300 Bay Area Blvd A, Houston, TX 77058. The classes will be held each Thursday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., beginning March 14, 2024 and ending May 2, 2024. If you have questions or want to register for the class please contact baycert@gmail.com.

HC ESD 48 Fire Department and Katy Area CERT will be offering CERT Training at the HC ESD 48 Fire Department Station 5, located at 21201 Morton Road, Katy, TX  77449 between North Fry Road and North Mason Road.  Stop the Bleed and Hands-on CPR classes will be included with this course. This training is FREE and open to the public.  Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, starting February 12, 2024 and ending April 15, 2024. The Baytown CERT will host CERT training at Baytown Fire Department Training Facility, at 7022 Bayway Dr. Baytown, TX 77520. The training is FREE and open to the public. Training will be held each Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30pm beginning April 4, 2024 to May 23, 2024. The South Houston CERT will host CERT training in SPANISH  at the South Houston Public Library at 607 Avenue A, South Houston, Texas 77587. The training is FREE and open to the public. Training will be held each Monday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm beginning April 29, 2024 to June 17, 2024. Training will be held each Tuesday, from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., beginning August 20, 2024 and ending October 15, 2024. IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs)

This FEMA Independent Study online course is an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program for those interested in learning about the CERT program. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT, What CERTs Do, and Becoming Involved. Remember: It is important to understand that completion of this Independent Study course is not equivalent to, and cannot be used in place of the classroom delivery of the CERT Basic training. To become a CERT volunteer, you must complete the classroom training.

IS-315.A: CERT and the Incident Command System (ICS)

This Independent Study (IS) course introduces you to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) relationship to the Incident Command System (ICS), a proven management system used by emergency managers to help maintain the safety of disaster workers, provide clear leadership and organizational structure, and improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts. This program educates any Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program manager, CERT trainer, or emergency responder who may manage and/or coordinate with a CERT about the CERT’s potential roles in a disaster or emergency situation.
