CERT Training

Cy-Fair Area CERT training will be held at the Lone Star College-Cy-Fair Emergency Services Education Center, 18132 West Road, Cypress, Texas 77433. Training will be held Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., starting July 13, 2021, and ending August 31, 2021. The class will be limited to 30 participants. Please go to www.cyfaircert.org, click on TRAINING, and register for the 2021 CERT Training Class 36.  For more information, contact at training@cyfaircert.org.

HC ESD 48 Fire Department and Katy Area CERT will be offering CERT Training at the HC ESD 48 FD, Station 5, located at 21201 Morton Road, Katy, TX  77449 between North Fry Road and North Mason Road.  Training is FREE and open to the public.  Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, starting September 7, 2021 and ending October 1, 2021. The Humble Area CERT will host CERT training at the Harris County Fire and Sheriff Training Academy, 2316 Atascocita Road, Humble, Texas 77396. Training will be held each Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., beginning September 14, 2021 and ending November 2, 2021. Tomball Area CERT training will be held at the Tomball Fire Department Station 1 located at 1200 Rudel Road, Tomball, Texas 77375. Training will be held Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. –  9:30 p.m. starting September 23, 2021, and ending November 11, 2021. IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs)

This FEMA Independent Study online course is an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program for those interested in learning about the CERT program. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT, What CERTs Do, and Becoming Involved. Remember: It is important to understand that completion of this Independent Study course is not equivalent to, and cannot be used in place of the classroom delivery of the CERT Basic training. To become a CERT volunteer, you must complete the classroom training.

IS-315.A: CERT and the Incident Command System (ICS)

This Independent Study (IS) course introduces you to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) relationship to the Incident Command System (ICS), a proven management system used by emergency managers to help maintain the safety of disaster workers, provide clear leadership and organizational structure, and improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts. This program educates any Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program manager, CERT trainer, or emergency responder who may manage and/or coordinate with a CERT about the CERT’s potential roles in a disaster or emergency situation.
