CERT Training

Cy-Fair Area CERT training for 2023 will be held at the Lone Star College - Cy-Fair Emergency Services Education Center, 18132 West Road, Cypress, Texas 77433. Training will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., starting August 22, 2023, and ending October 17, 2023. The class will be limited to 30 participants. Please go to www.cyfaircert.org, click on the Eventbrite link at the bottom of the homepage, and register for the 2023 CERT Training Class 40. For more information, contact training@cyfaircert.org. Registration will open in May 2023.

The Humble Area CERT will host CERT training at the Harris County Fire and Sheriff Training Academy, 2316 Atascocita Road, Humble, Texas 77396. Training will be held each Saturday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., beginning July 22, 2023, and ending August 12, 2023. HC ESD 48 Fire Department and Katy Area CERT will offer CERT Training at the HC ESD 48 Fire Department Station 5, located at 21201 Morton Road, Katy, TX  77449 between North Fry Road and North Mason Road.  Training is FREE and open to the public.  Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, starting August 22, 2023, and ending September 21, 2023. The East Harris County CERT will host CERT training at Channelview Fire Station # 3, 1210 Dell Dale St., Channelview, TX 77530. The training is free and open to the public. This series of classes will be taught in English. Training will be held each Monday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 p.m., beginning August 21, 2023, and ending October 16, 2023. The South Houston CERT will host CERT training at South Houston Library 607 Avenue A, South Houston, TX 77587. The training is free and open to the public. This series of classes will be taught in English. Training will be held each Wednesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., beginning September 6, 2023, and ending October 25, 2023. The West Street Recovery CERT will host CERT training at 20 N. Sampson St., Houston, TX 77003. The training is free and open to the public. This series of classes will be taught in English. Training will be held each Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm beginning Sept 19, 2023, and ending November 7, 2023. The Baytown CERT will host CERT training at Baytown Fire Department Training Facility, at 7022 Bayway Dr. Baytown, TX 77520. The training is free and open to the public . Training will be held each Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm beginning September 7, 2023 to October 26, 2023. IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs)

This FEMA Independent Study online course is an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program for those interested in learning about the CERT program. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT, What CERTs Do, and Becoming Involved. Remember: It is important to understand that completion of this Independent Study course is not equivalent to, and cannot be used in place of the classroom delivery of the CERT Basic training. To become a CERT volunteer, you must complete the classroom training.

IS-315.A: CERT and the Incident Command System (ICS)

This Independent Study (IS) course introduces you to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) relationship to the Incident Command System (ICS), a proven management system used by emergency managers to help maintain the safety of disaster workers, provide clear leadership and organizational structure, and improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts. This program educates any Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program manager, CERT trainer, or emergency responder who may manage and/or coordinate with a CERT about the CERT’s potential roles in a disaster or emergency situation.
