CERT Training

The Hockley Community Center will host CERT classes at the Hockley Community Center located at 28515 Old Washington Rd, Hockley, TX 77447. Training will be held Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. –  12 p.m. starting August 1, 2024, and ending September 19, 2024. The Juergen’s Hall Community Center will host CERT classes at the Juergen’s Hall Community Center located at 26026 Hempstead Rd, Cypress, TX 77429. Training will be held Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. –  6 p.m. starting July 31, 2024, and ending September 18, 2024. Tomball Area CERT training will be held at the Tomball Fire Department Station 1 located at 1200 Rudel Road, Tomball, Texas 77375. Training will be held Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. –  9:30 p.m. starting September 4, 2024, and ending October 23, 2024. The Cy-Fair Area CERT will host CERT training at LSC-Cy-Fair-Emergency Service Education Center, 18132 West Road, Cypress, Texas 77433. Training will be held each Tuesday, from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., beginning August 20, 2024 and ending October 15, 2024. HC ESD 48 Fire Department and Katy Area CERT will be offering CERT Training at the HC ESD 48 Fire Department Station 5, located at 21201 Morton Road, Katy, TX  77449 between North Fry Road and North Mason Road.  Stop the Bleed and Hands-on CPR classes will be included with this course. This training is FREE and open to the public.  Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, starting September 9, 2024 and ending November 4, 2024. Ponderosa Fire CERT will host CERT training at Ponderosa Fire Department Station 63 & Training Facility, 21455 Imperial Valley, Houston, TX 77073 (Northview Subdivision).Training will be held Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., starting October 17, 2024 and ending December 12, 2024 (there will not be a class during the week of Thanksgiving). Cypress Creek CERT will host CERT training starting Thursday, September 19, 2024 and ending November 7, 2024. The class will be held at Cypress Creek Fire Station 24, 12073 Perry Road, Houston, TX 77070. IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs)

This FEMA Independent Study online course is an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program for those interested in learning about the CERT program. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT, What CERTs Do, and Becoming Involved. Remember: It is important to understand that completion of this Independent Study course is not equivalent to, and cannot be used in place of the classroom delivery of the CERT Basic training. To become a CERT volunteer, you must complete the classroom training.

IS-315.A: CERT and the Incident Command System (ICS)

This Independent Study (IS) course introduces you to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) relationship to the Incident Command System (ICS), a proven management system used by emergency managers to help maintain the safety of disaster workers, provide clear leadership and organizational structure, and improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts. This program educates any Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program manager, CERT trainer, or emergency responder who may manage and/or coordinate with a CERT about the CERT’s potential roles in a disaster or emergency situation.
