CERT Training

HC ESD 48 Fire Department and Katy Area CERT will be offering CERT Training at the HC ESD 48 FD, Station 5, located at 21201 Morton Road, Katy, TX  77449 between North Fry Road and North Mason Road.  Training is FREE and open to the public.  Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, starting April 5, 2022 and ending April 28, 2022. To register, contact HCESD 48 FD at cert.training@hcesd48.org.   

The Jim & JoAnn Fonteno Senior Education Center will be offering CERT Training at 6600 Bissonnet Street, Houston, Texas 77074.  Training is free and open to residents of Harris County that are 55 or older and you will need to register.  Classes will be held on Mondays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, starting April 21st, 2022 and ending June 9th, 2022.  To register, contact Fonteno SEC at (713) 274-3305 or fontenosec@pct3.hctx.net.

Cy-Fair Area CERT training will be held at the Lone Star College-Cy-Fair Emergency Services Education Center, 18132 West Road, Cypress, Texas 77433. Training will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., starting March 29, 2022, and ending May 17, 2022. The class will be limited to 30 participants. Baytown CERT will host CERT training at the Baytown Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, 205 East Wye Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521. Training will be held each Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., beginning April 6, 2022 and ending May 25, 2022. The City of La Porte will hold CERT training at the La Porte Police Department, 3001 N 23rd Street, La Porte, Tx. The training is free and open to the public. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9:30 pm, beginning April 14 and ending June 2, 2022. The Humble Area CERT will host CERT training at the Harris County Fire and Sheriff Training Academy, 2316 Atascocita Road, Humble, Texas 77396. Training will be held each Monday from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., beginning May 2, 2022 and ending June 27, 2022 (no class on Memorial Day, May 30). IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs)

This FEMA Independent Study online course is an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program for those interested in learning about the CERT program. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT, What CERTs Do, and Becoming Involved. Remember: It is important to understand that completion of this Independent Study course is not equivalent to, and cannot be used in place of the classroom delivery of the CERT Basic training. To become a CERT volunteer, you must complete the classroom training.

IS-315.A: CERT and the Incident Command System (ICS)

This Independent Study (IS) course introduces you to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) relationship to the Incident Command System (ICS), a proven management system used by emergency managers to help maintain the safety of disaster workers, provide clear leadership and organizational structure, and improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts. This program educates any Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program manager, CERT trainer, or emergency responder who may manage and/or coordinate with a CERT about the CERT’s potential roles in a disaster or emergency situation.
