CERT Training

Cy-Fair Area CERT training will be held at the Lone Star College-Cy-Fair Emergency Services Education Center, 18132 West Road, Cypress, Texas 77433. Training will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., starting August 23, 2022, and ending October 4, 2022. The class will be limited to 30 participants. Please go to www.cyfaircert.org, click on TRAINING, and register for the 2022 CERT Training Class 36.  For more information, contact at training@cyfaircert.org.

IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs)

This FEMA Independent Study online course is an introduction to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program for those interested in learning about the CERT program. The course includes three lessons: Introduction to CERT, What CERTs Do, and Becoming Involved. Remember: It is important to understand that completion of this Independent Study course is not equivalent to, and cannot be used in place of the classroom delivery of the CERT Basic training. To become a CERT volunteer, you must complete the classroom training.

IS-315.A: CERT and the Incident Command System (ICS)

This Independent Study (IS) course introduces you to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) relationship to the Incident Command System (ICS), a proven management system used by emergency managers to help maintain the safety of disaster workers, provide clear leadership and organizational structure, and improve the effectiveness of rescue efforts. This program educates any Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program manager, CERT trainer, or emergency responder who may manage and/or coordinate with a CERT about the CERT’s potential roles in a disaster or emergency situation.
