Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Galveston-Houston Volunteer Services Abstract
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Galveston-Houston extends to all persons a healing ministry through culturally sensitive social services without regard to race, religion, or socio-economic status. The agency also works for social justice by empowering the community through action and education, asserting the principle of human dignity.
Volunteer opportunities for individuals, youth (ages 14-17), and groups abound throughout our 16 program services, providing help and creating hope for individuals and families from the youngest to the elderly. Programs serve infants, pregnant and parenting teens, families seeking adoption, immigrants and refugees, families and individuals seeking counseling, persons with HIV/AIDS, families and individuals who are hungry or facing eviction, victims of disaster, families in need of a place to stay while they are in Houston for medical treatment, and the alone, frail elderly. Volunteer positions include direct client services, office/administrative support, product drives, and client holiday sponsorship.
Volunteers must complete an enrollment and screening process.
