National Night Out
is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

National Night Out is designed to:
  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support for and participation in local, anticrime programs
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
  • Neighbors participate across thousands of communities from all 50 states, United States territories, Canadian cities, and military bases  worldwide
Tips for Having A successful National Night Out
  1.  Register your event with the Harris County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Unit (Depending on staffing, we will try to have deputies from patrol or the Crime Prevention Unit to attend)
  2. Decide what kind of event you want to have
    • Block party
    • Ice Cream Social
    • Bike Parade
    • Coffee and Cookies
  3. Pick a time and place for the event
  4. Spread the word! Let your neighbors know what is planned
    • Flyers
    • Newsletters
    • Nextdoor
  5. Take Photos  (include the official NNO logo in the photos)
